BEYOND
Limitless bridge builders
BEYOND is a dynamic, exhilarating, and poetic circus and dance performance that explores, challenges, and ultimately bridges our limits. Choreographer Piet Van Dycke works with six professional artists, each specializing in a different discipline (ladder walking, acro-dance, acrobike, partner acrobatics, and pole/dance). On stage, they transform into limitless bridge builders.
Using ladders of varying sizes and heights, the performers build impressive structures, such as arched sculptures and rotating cranes. They balance the ladders to create an exciting, precarious playing field. They explore unknown heights, climbing, floating, and venturing into bold choreography. Every centimeter and every second counts. They push to the extremes and discover just how far they can drive one another. Physical interdependence has never been this thrilling. BEYOND is about the vulnerability, absurdity, and strength of our boundaries, and how we can push them by working together. Together, we dance on the collective ladders of human imagination.

Quotes
Evelyne Coussens, e-tcetera
What makes BEYOND so beautiful, beyond its thoughtful dramaturgical structure and impressive acrobatic work, is the interplay between the performers themselves and their attentive care for the audience. In BEYOND, they test every single possibility of their objects, their bodies, and, in doing so, my own imagination.
★★★★ - Filip Tielens, De Standaard
Later, straight ladders are added, which the performers use to form a hexagonal prism that they climb, relying solely on balancing one another. It is a beautifully serene moment before the build-up to a spectacular climax. With BEYOND, Circumstances has another broad audience hit on its hands.
★★★★ - Rosalie Fleuren, Trouw
The proud sense of relief after a successful stunt is just as important to the performance experience as the magic of the daredevilry itself.
Kester Freriks, Theaterkrant
They perform their acrobatic, whirlwind stunts with apparent ease. Together, they build a sculpture of bodies, throw themselves from the top of a tall ladder into each other's arms, and leave the audience dizzy as they swing around above their heads. Their interaction with the spectators is delightful; they look at us as if to say, "everything is going to be alright."
★★★★ - Jordi Bordes, Recomana
It is a highly energetic piece, in which the acrobatic elements become increasingly complex through the exploration of new ways for the performers to interact with the structure. To go Beyond, the group's collaboration is essential.
Joost Goutziers, Brabant Cultureel
When you build bridges, you connect with others and achieve goals you never thought possible.
